As the current Co-President of the NC Council for Exceptional Children's Division of Learning Disabilities, I am a highly qualified and experienced educator. With an MAEd and licensure in learning disabilities, reading K-12, general curriculum, adapted curriculum, and assistive technology, I have dedicated my career to helping students with special needs succeed. I am the current Exceptional Children's Director at Envision Science Academy in Wake Forest, NC, a position I have held since 2015 and the Autism Team Lead at the school since 2016. The 2021-2022 North Carolina Council for Exceptional Children recognized me as the Teacher of Excellence. With over 13 years of experience in special education, including work in Pitt County and Wake County Public Schools, I have a deep passion for helping students with Autism Spectrum Disorder reach their full potential in all settings, including post-secondary life.
As an educator with over 15 years of experience, I have a strong background in general education, adapted curriculum, and special education K-12. My focus in the past seven years has been on social/emotional development and behavior. I am trained in crisis intervention, social thinking, trauma and behavior, and Autism/Girls with Autism. During my time at ESA Charter school, I was recognized as the EC Teacher of the Year during the 2019-2020 school year. I am dedicated to helping all students reach their full potential, especially those with special needs.
